Stainless Steel/Global stainless upturn slow to emerge

World stainless steel production has increased from the low point of the third quarter of 2007, but the long hoped for acceleration in output to new highs is proving slow to materialise. The sluggish nature of the upturn owes much to uncertainty. In the USA, the downturn in the housing sector coupled with mounting concerns over the possibility of a recession has left many consumers reluctant to pre-order significant sized quantities of stainless steel.
