In Europe, November base prices for CR304 2mm 2b sheet increased by just ?5/t m/m, on average, to ?1,040/t in Euro zone countries. This represents an increase of just ?15/t since October, a quarter of what mills had hoped for. The only countries that experienced a rise in November were Germany and Italy. However, due to exchange rate movements the base prices was largely unchanged m/m in November. Mills have continued to push for higher base prices in December too. But so far we have not heard of base prices moving higher than last month. Given the expected low levels of demand for December delivery, we remain unconvinced any further increases in base prices will be achieved this year.
