Thompson Creek returns to profit despite falling prices

North American miner Thompson Creek returned to profit in Q3 with net income of $13.8m compared to a net loss of $48.2m in Q2 as production rose 39% y/y to 8.5Mlbs and cash costs fell as operational performance at both the Thompson Creek and Endako mines improved. Sales volumes rose, reflecting demand recovery led by strength in the US and Japanese automotive markets with support from the oil and gas industry.
