After a slow start to 2011, demand for ferrochrome has picked up in Europe which, coupled with a decrease in supply, has led to elevated prices compared to January and early February. The US market is also seeing a surge in demand from stainless steel as well as special alloy producers, leading to higher prices for all grades of material. For a change, the market in China is lagging somewhat behind.
