Demand for chrome ore remains strong despite stockpiles

Whilst business slowed down during the Chinese New Year, demand was robust in the weeks leading up to it as mills were eager to stock-up. The current chrome ore market in China can be best described as being driven by speculation. As alloy prices have increased over the last month, there is an expectation that ore prices will follow suit, thus boosting speculative demand from Chinese traders who, despite large stockpiles, are still interested securing more material.
