As we begin another year of building global markets for cotton, China continues to be the world's largest importer of cotton fiber and U.S. cotton's number one customer. Chinese mills are projected to use a record level 43 million (480 lb.) bales during 2005/06 and forecasters expect that by the end of 2005, China would have purchased more than 16 million bales of foreign cotton just to satisfy their domestic yarn and manufacturing needs.
