Spot prices rise on sentiment and expectations of better near-term demand

Spot prices of high-carbon ferrochrome have increased by up to 4cents/lb on average since our last Monitor. Demand in the spot market is understood to have picked up, albeit slightly, following the summer holidays. According to our contacts, prices have also been lifted by recent events connected to Yildirim Group's acquisition of Mechel's ferrochrome assets.
