Nickel

Nickel continues to be characterised by its inherent volatility, with prices fluctuating in a range of between +3% and -3% on a daily basis since the beginning of June. As noted in previous monitors, nickel's dire performance alongside the rest of the LME industrial metals has largely been a function of negatively perceived macroeconomic news. While governments have been pursuing measures to combat what is now a global financial crisis as China is also being affected by the widespread malaise of the West, these are unfortunately having little, if any, effect.
