摘要

We note that the arguments advanced by us in ref 1 for identification of the β-polymorph of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) have been used earlier by many authors. The main objection of Mandal et al. to the said method of identification of the β-polymorph hinges on the absence of a distinct peak at 1279 cm~(-1) in the FTIR spectra (Figure 7) of the composites. Actually, in the reported spectra, there is a hump at ~1279 cm~(-1) for every composite sample. Due to the saturation absorbance (as pointed out by Mandal et al. ), the hump could not be resolved into a distinct peak and accordingly it was not reported in Table 2 of our paper.
