Production at Jinduicheng Molybdenum Mining (JDC) is to decrease in the latter half of 2003, as the company mines ore from a low-grade zone. JDC is to reduce moly concentrate output for 4 months from August, with production falling by 300-400 tonnes per month (est. 0.4-0.5m lb per month of contained Mo). In addition, a 40-day maintenance shutdown is scheduled at an ore dressing plant from August 20 (capacity 400-600 tonnes per month concentrate). As a consequence JDC is not expected to be in a position to sell spot material in August or September The already tight Chinese concentrate market will also see lowered production in some areas with the onset of the rainy season in August and September.
