The concentrates market saw a brief respite from persistent deficit during the second quarter as smelter cutbacks in response to poor demand for refined copper and sulphuric acid reduced concentrate requirements. Overall during H1 the market was balanced, moving into surplus in Q2. Mine performance also improved, with Grasberg the star performer. The increases also include output at new mines - Prominent Hill, Lumwana, Phu Kham and the small Cerro de Maimon.
