Recovery stalls in flat rolled market

After registering a modest improvement in Q1 2012, the recovery in the flat rolled copper market faltered in Q2. World consumption of copper and copper alloy plate sheet, strip and foil (PSSF) declined by 6.7% y-o-y and 2.4% y-o-y respectively. Much of the weakness stemmed from the European market, where the ongoing sovereign debt crisis is severely restricting end-user demand. But weak consumption is not confined to Europe alone.
