摘要

High resolution photoelectron spectra of C2N-, C4N-, and C6N- anions are reported, obtained usingslow electron velocity-map imaging. The spectra show well resolved transitions to the k 211 neutralground state of all three species and to the a 4/- excited state of C2N and C4N. This study yieldsthe adiabatic electron affinity of C2N, C4N, and C6N, the spin-orbit splitting in the 5e 211 state ofeach radical, and the term energy of the 541- state in C2N and C4N. Relatively little vibrationalactivity is observed, indicating small geometry changes upon photodetachment. This result, plus theobservation of transitions to neutral quartet states, indicates that the C2,11- (n=1-3) anions all havelinear 3/- ground states.
