Diffusivity in periodic arrays of spherical cavities

This note deals with diffusion of a solute in a porous medium formed by a periodic array of identical,solvent-filled,touching spherical cavities. We derive an expression for the effective diffusivity,D_(eff),as a function of the medium microgeometry and the solute diffusivity in the bulk solvent.
