Amravati gets ambitious textile park; 8 more on cards

The Government of India launched the scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SUP) in 2005 to provide the industry with state-of-the-art world-class infrastructure facilities for setting up their textile units by merging the erstwhile-Apparel Parks for Exports Scheme (APES) and Textile Centre Infrastructure Development Scheme (TCIDS). Under the SITP scheme, a total of 40 textile park projects were sanctioned in 10th Five Year Plan and 11th Five Year Plan. The estimated project cost (for common infrastructure and common facilities) of the 40 sanctioned projects was Rs 4,121 crore, of which Government of India assistance under the scheme would be Rs 1,427 crore.
