Technical textiles have emerged as an important segment for not only to textile industry but for all material sciences and medical sciences. The Indian government has launched a massive programme for the promotion of technical textiles and material engineering. Throughout the world at many levels research and development is taking place in these frontier areas of technology. The Department of Textile Technology, Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, India, is always in the front in promoting new technology and giving opportunity to researchers, academicians and students to share their knowledge and findings.
