Ten more years for Dungeness

EDF ENERGY will extend operations at its Dungeness B nuclear plant by ten years to 2028 and has signed a series of contracts with suppliers to service its wider UK fleet. The extension of the operational life of the two advanced gas-cooled reactors at the 1,050 MW plant in Kent is made possible by a ￡150m (US$226m) investment programme, which has already seen a ￡75m upgrade to the control room computer systems and ￡8m for enhanced flood defences.
