Natural killer (NK) cells have been implicated in the recognition and annihilation of tumor cells. The assessment of the cytolytic activity of NK cells is important not only for monitoring of immunocompetence in cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune diseases, but also in determining the proteins which mediate the cytolytic effect.
