Regulator slams Black Elk over Gulf explosion

A REPORT by the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) has criticised energy company Black Elk over a deadly explosion at its oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Three workers were killed and three seriously injured by an explosion and fire aboard Black Elk's West Delta 32 platform, located about 27 km southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana, last November. BSEE, which regulates offshore drilling in the US, says that the accident occurred while the rig was undergoing construction and maintenance work.
