PETROPLUS, Europe's largest independent oil refiner and owner of Coryton refinery in Essex, has filed for insolvency, putting at risk the jobs of some 2,500 employees - including 37 members of IChemE. Petroplus operates five refineries across Europe with a total capacity of 667,000 bbl/d.
