Using massively parallel sequencing in picoliter reaction vessels, David Wheeler and colleagues have sequenced the genome of James D. Watson to 7.4-fold redundancy in two months at approximately one-hundredth of the cost of traditional capillary electrophoresis methods. This is the first genome to be sequenced by next-generation sequencing technologies.
