摘要

Copper(II) chloride is utilized to carry out ligand-free one-pot synthesis of triarylmethane derivatives in moderate to good yields. Copper(II) chloride also facilitated the transformation of both bis(indolyl)-methane and leuco base to the corresponding triarylmethane derivatives by aryl group transfer. Based on the observed aryl transfer, an easy access to triarylmethane derivatives is devised by treating an equimolar mixture of bis(indolyl)methane and leuco base with indole or N,N-dimethylaniline in the presence of CuCl2.
