Alpha-Diazocarbonyl compound sreact with methylamagnesium bromide at -78 deg C genrating the corresponding alpha-diazo-alpha-braomomagnesio speices,which can be intercepted by various electrophilic reagents.for example,with alkyl chloroformates alpha-diazo-beta-ketoesters or mixed estrs of alpha-diazomalonate are obtaine din good yields.
