Sheet prices lose momentum with resolution of all unplanned outages

Since surging by $85-$93/s.ton since May, sheet prices have now flattened into September as all unplanned steel production outages have been resolved. However, other planned outages continue to weigh on the minds of steel buyers. Spot prices for future delivery should adequately reflect the improved mill operating environment as lead times are firmly into the fourth quarter, near the restart of two key furnaces.
