Substituted morpholines have been efficiently synthesised in good yields from nitrogen tethered alkanolepoxide mediated by boron trifluoride etherate. The methodology has been used for the total synthesis of (+/-)-viloxazine. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
