摘要

The synthesis and structural characterization of anthraquinone-based luminescence macrocycles containing sulfur and chlorine is reported. Luminescence is dependent on both electronic contributions of the substituted quinone and structural features of the binding site, which effect the inversion of npi* and pipi* states. X-ray crystallographic results of different 1,8-oxybis(ethyleneoxyethyleneoxy)-anthracene-9, 10-dione structures is also compared. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
