Germany takes brewing beer very seriously indeed, thanks to 'rein-heitsgebot' which translates as the 'purity laws'. These set strict limits on what can go into the production process, namely water, barley and hops, and that's it. So the country's brewers would have been aghast to hear of a recent research study that plastic microfibres were found in 24 different varieties of local bottled beer bought from German supermarkets.
