Injection moulding machine builder Fanuc claims impressive energy efficiency results for its Roboshot all-electric injection moulding machines. It attributes these to advanced motion control technology, power regeneration facilitated by motor servo drives and insulation of the melt heating zone,Energy regeneration works by the servo-drive motors in the Roboshot machines generating electrical energy as they decelerate. According to Wolfgang Haak, applications engineer at Fanuc, the amount of energy produced in this way "depends on the particular model and configuration of machine, but on average contributes a saving of around 10% on top ofthe 40-60% lower energyconsumption of electricmachines as opposed tohydraulic ones".
