Chess Plastics has ordered a second Negri Bossi Vector 650 tonne injection moulding machine for delivery in November. The purchase will be the latest in a round of major investments which began in late 2010, with the purchase of the company's largest machine to date, a Negri Bossi VH1300 Bi-Power with a shot weight in excess of 11kg in polystyrene. This machine was Chess's first Negri Bossi in many years. It proved so successful that it was shortly followed by a Vector series 1000 tonne machine and the first Vector 650 tonne machine. The company has reduced its moulding machine total from a high of 28 to the current figure of 18, now with an average clamping force of over 700 tonnes.
