Mixed picture as market nears turning point

Finished steel markets appear to be reaching a turning point, with some products and regions showingmonth-on-month price rises in our latest assessments. As a result, the rate of decline in the CRUspi indexfor finished steel products has slowed, falling by 3.7 points, or 2.0%, to reach 175.1 points.In North America, steel sheet prices fell by US$43-56/s.ton between our July and August assessments,although it appears that a low point might have been hit during the past month and prices have come up bymore than US$20/s.ton in the past two weeks.
