Stable export market demand helps to stop the fall in CIS flat products export prices

Following two months of declines, CIS flat products export prices have stabilised in May. At the same time, Russian domestic prices continued to increase, although end-user demand has been relatively weak as the economy continues to deteriorate. With no significant improvement expected in export market demand, any export price rises will be difficult to achieve next month, while lower raw materials costs will create the potential for prices to move lower.
