CSX sees domestic coal business improving, exports not so much

CSX is bullish on coal. It's also a bit bearish on coal. It just depends on what kind of coal you're talking about. During the company's conference call to review its first quarter earnings, railroad CFO Fredrik Eliasson said he sees better times ahead for CSX's domestic thermal business because stockpiles are lower and utilities were generating more electricity this past winter. But he also sees the export market tightening and the U.S. losing a bit of ground when it comes to putting coal into the seaborne markets.
