Better late than never: Indian steel makers meeting next month to discuss price, needs

India's state-controlled steel makers, SAIL and RINL (Vizag), are understood to have called their contract hard coking coal suppliers to meetings in early April to discuss prices and tonnage for the April-June quarter (Q2). The meetings, scheduled for April 2-4, are markedly later than the usual Indian timetable which aims to set pricing well before the start of the relevant quarter. But the Indians are hamstrung by delays in Q2 Asian benchmark agreement between major producers and Japanese steel mills.
