MODERN day packaging is a complex structure based on a combination of polymers, polymers & paper, paper, polymers & aluminium etc. These structures are designed with key aesthetics & functional properties in mind. The barrier protection that the package offers decides the shelf life & brand value of the product within. Recognizing the importance of the various quality demands on modern packaging systems, an attempt is made in this paper to understand the various tests & characterization techniques employed in modern package design.
