Ukraine’s consumption of coal by thermal power plants and heatproducers increased by 10.7% year-on-year to 22.918 million mt in thefirst nine months, up from 20.704 million mt consumed in January-September 2015, the energy and coal industry ministry reported Friday.Coal consumption increased as the country’s thermal power plantswere forced to run with increased load to compensate for shortages inthe power system due to a longer-than-expected overhaul of twonuclear power reactors.
