OE automotive sales maintained their positive start to 2014 across all major regions during the first half of the year, according to the latest LMC Automotive data. During 1H 2014, global light vehicle sales increased by 3.9% year-on-year (y-o-y), improving on the 2.2% y-o-y growth during the same period last year. The USA is enjoying another positive year. The weather impacted first quarter 2014 growth of 1.3% was replaced by stronger growth in the second quarter as the winter subsided, and the wider US economy returned to growth. As a result, US vehicle sales enjoyed second quarter growth of 6.8% over the same quarter last year, driving 1H2014 sales to gain 4.2% year-on-year.
