Industrial wood pellet market tests $170/mt on minimal demand

A lack of prompt buying interest continued to heap pressure on northwest European industrial pellet prices this week, driving them closer to the $170/mt mark, with traders saying availability of local residential volumes were pricing out larger shipments of US supplies. Platts Friday assessed the weekly price of CIF NW Europe ‘I2’ industrial wood pellets basis 17 GJ/mt for delivery within the next 7-45 days, March 13–April 20 at $170.50/mt, down $2.75 on the week.
