CIF ARA Cal-16 coal swaps plunge below $58/mt amid weak gas, oil

The CIF ARA Cal-16 thermal coal derivative dropped below $58/mt Monday to the lowest close for a year-ahead contract since Platts started swap assessments in 2007, mainly on the weakness of related energy commodities, sources said. Platts assessed the CIF ARA Cal-16 contract at $57.60/mt, 60 cents lower from Monday, and the front-quarter CIF ARA Q2-15 contract at $57.95/mt, 80 cents down day on day and at its lowest since January 30.
