Steel markets--Steel sheet: Prices rally in USA and Europe; gains more limited in Asia

Spot prices are now on the up in all regions, largely on the basis of an uptick in order entry rates and rising input costs. In Asia, increases have been minimal, though are likely to gather pace soon. Activity levels in principal steel sheet-consuming industry sectors in China continue to firm, yet the impact on domestic steel sheet consumption has not been so positive. Most buyers, end users and stockists alike, feel they have at least adequate inventories and are still only purchasing for stock replacement purposes.
