Japan’s Kansai Electric has decided to turn its 1.2-GW oil-fired Ako power plant in western Japan into a coalfiredplant by fiscal 2020-2021 (April-March), a companyofficial said Friday.The decision is part of Kansai Electric’s ongoing efforts toupgrade its old and inefficient thermal power plants forbetter economics, the official said.
