Vietnam’s Mar coal imports rise 25% on-year while exports drop sharply

Vietnam imported 394,432 mt of coal in March,up 25.6% year on year and up 23.3% from February,according to customs data released Wednesday. The March imports were worth $35.7 million, up 2.89%year on year and up 17.7% from February.Traditionally a coal exporter, the country has activelyturned to coal imports to meet rising domestic coal demand,particularly from the power sector.
