Eskom opens first 800 MW unit of new Medupi coal-fired power plant

South African state-owned power utility Eskomon Sunday officially opened the first 800 MW unit, Unit 6, ofthe new Medupi coal-fired power station.When complete, the power station will consist of sixunits at a total 4,764 MW installed capacity, making it thefourth largest coal-fired plant in the world and the largestdry-cooled power station.
