China’s NDRC unveils action plan to cut coal use in domestic power plants

China’s top economic policy body the NationalDevelopment and Reform Commission announced an actionplan to increase the operating efficiency of coal-fired powerplants in the Asian country which could affect their coal use,reports Fenwei Energy, Platts sister company in China.The action plan is for the period 2014 to 2020 andrequires newly constructed coal-fired power plants in Chinato lower their per unit consumption of thermal coal to justunder 300-310 g/kWh by the end of the specified periodfrom an average of around 321 g/kWh currently, the NDRCsaid Friday on its website.
