Singapore - Over the last few months spot buyers have displayed a willingness to pay slightly more for premium low-vol hard coking coals with very high coke strength after reaction (CSR), compared with other premium HCCs, a statis- tical analysis of Platts' recent transaction data shows. The observation resulted in a change to the way Platts normalizes for CSR and in the relative value of Platts' two premium HCC assessments Premium Low Vol and HCC Peak Downs Region, with the latter Friday exceeding the former by $1.25/mt having previously been lower by $0.25/mt.
