Perth—A Glencore-owned coal mine came under threat over the weekend from severe bushfires that have prompted the Australian state of New South Wales to declare a state of emergency, mining company sources said Monday. Glencore’s 100%-owned Mangoola thermal coal mine had a close call when fires swept close to the mine, located 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of the Hunter Valley coal field town of Muswellbrook.
