Miners start offering January laycans amid tepid Asian coking coal demand

Singapore—Spot prices for coking coal and PCI in Asia were assessed mostly lower Friday, mainly due to competitive offers for January-loading cargoes. FOB values, meanwhile, were put under more pressure because of sharp rises in freight rates. Platts assessed premium-quality low-volatile hard coking coal steady at $149.50/mt CFR China and second-tier HCC down $1 at $138.50/mt CFR.
