London—South African resources group Exxaro said Thursday it is considering halting production at its troubled New Clydesdale Colliery (NCC) export thermal coal operation in the Mpumalanga province. In November 2012, Exxaro put the mine up for sale after an internal review determined that it was a negative-margin operation with a short mine life.
