China's coal import volumes expected to decline in coming years: UBS

Singapore - China, the world's largest importer of coal, may have seen its coal import volumes peak last year at 289 million mt, Swiss investment bank UBS said in a report Wednesday, with shipments expected to fall in the coming years due to growing domestic production. The Basel-headquartered bank expects China's imports of coal to decline by 6.3% year on year to 271 million mt in 2013, and further down to 257 million mt in 2014 and 229 million mt in 2015.
