New South Wales suspends Western line coal rail services on bushfires

Perth—Bushfires have caused “extensive damage” to parts of the Western railway used for coal haulage in the Australian state of New South Wales and October haulage volumes are likely to be impacted as a result, Australian transport company Asciano said in a report Friday. In an update on its website Friday, Western railway’s operator Transport New South Wales TrainLink said train services had been suspended on the Western railway between Bathurst, Lithgow and Mount Victoria due to bushfire damage to rail infrastructure.
