Third Mundra 800MW unit close to commissioning, says Tata

New Delhi - The third 800 MW unit of India's first 4,000 MW ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Mundra, Gujarat in western India is close to being commissioned, the plant's operator, Tata Power said Monday. Tata said that the unit had been synchronised, the last step before commissioning. With the addition of the new unit, Tata's total coal-fired generation capacity will increase to 6,047 MW, the company said in a statement. The first and second units at the Mundra plant were commissioned in March and July respectively this year.
